What is a drawing?
A drawing is the language that allows us to communicate between reality and imagination. As a designer, explaining an idea is everything. It doesn't matter if that idea is the best idea ever. If you can't communicate it – it's nothing.
As a student, I often felt frustrated that what I could present didn't live up to what was in my head. The fact that my school didn't offer training in CAD programs, or drafting for that matter, didn't help much. In my determination I began exploring the world of tutorials. To this day, YouTube is my most valuable class. I began committing all the time I could to learning the most random things on my own, which at the time seemed little to do with architecture. But my hobby began to compliment my work – snowballing my ability to delineate and liberating my imagination. I began presenting ideas with more accuracy, beauty and creativity than ever before.
Whenever I'd see a colleague frustrated with the inability to delineate an idea (be it a model, a painting or an animation), I'd totally empathize and try to pay forward my knowledge. The best way to learn and grow is not through the memorization of a manual but the mixing of knowledge – a chemistry of diverse personalities, each with its own strengths (and weaknesses).
I'm far from an expert at anything, but at least I can share some of the tricks I know. I want to help others elevate their abilities. And hopefully they can teach me something too. So feel free to critique and/or contribute and enjoy the TUTblog.
