Garden Folly
Made from discarded wooden palettes, this folly structure merges function, delight and sustainability. Joints connect the palettes together – each rotated on two axis – creating a helix shape. Planters are set into the wood slats, allowing greenery to grow. Though the structure is quite open, the space inside the folly is more defined by a difference in natural light, smell and temperature. The gentle curve to the helix structure is a strategy to control lateral forces, but also a sculptural aesthetic. As it is radially symmetrical, visitors may view and approach from any side.
